Solstice is helping Roxbury, Dorchester, and Mattapan residents develop a community solar project that brings clean energy, wealth-building opportunities, bill savings, and more to local, low-income households.
To reach a 100% clean energy future, it’s essential that newly built renewable energy projects are just and inclusive.
Solstice has established a community solar model aimed at reducing household energy burden bringing traditionally excluded communities into the clean energy planning process.
We are building a project alongside local community partners that prioritizes community values and aims to maximize wealth building opportunities. In practice, this means facilitating a process with stakeholders from Dorchester, Roxbury, Mattapan, and Hyde Park to develop plans for a community solar project that cover everything from workforce development and job training to community ownership and financial savings.
We have brought together a Community Advisory Board to help develop a Community Benefits Plan in order to ensure that project outcomes are rooted in community needs. Organizations that are acting as members of our Community Advisory Board include: Communities Responding to Extreme Weather, Bikes Not Bombs, Fairmont Indigo CDC Collaborative, Renewable Renegades, and TSK Energy Solutions. Our CAB us developing a Community Benefits Plan, which will guide how this project is constructed. Our CAB is supported by the Rested Root Corp.
